How it works

Four steps from joining to using

The same flow for every participant, whether you publish, consume or both.

1

Join

Create an account, add your organisation and accept the Participation Agreement.

2

Publish or discover

Offers are listed in one catalogue, each with its licence and access level.

3

Order and use

Accept the licence, then download, call a service or run an approved algorithm where the data is.

4

Stay in control

Rules and policies travel with every offer, and every order is traceable.

Data sovereignty by design

Bring the algorithm to the data, not the data to the algorithm.

With compute-to-data, approved algorithms run where the data is held and only the results are returned. Data holders decide who may use their data, for what and on which terms.

  • Each offer has exactly one access level, and the provider node enforces it.
  • Only approved algorithms run, with no outbound internet access by default.
  • Household data is aggregated to at least 10 households unless people consent otherwise.
  • Every order is recorded on the ledger with a verifiable transaction identifier.

Turning Rubí into a Positive Energy District

EMPOWER-X is the energy data space for the DS4PED Rubí pilot: community-led renewable energy projects and smart electric-vehicle charging, to boost local energy independence and lower carbon emissions.

Renewable energy traceabilityThe origin and consumption of renewable energy are tracked and certified.
Solar surplus to EV chargingEnergy communities and a mobility operator match PV surplus with charging demand.

Governance

Seven principles behind every rule

How EMPOWER-X is governed
1
Data sovereignty

Data holders decide who may use their data, for what and on which terms.

2
Truthfulness

Everything EMPOWER-X publishes about offers, use and compliance reflects the platform as it is operated. Example records, test activity and planned features are never presented as real.

3
Interoperability and portability

Open standards and open-source components; no lock-in to a single operator.

4
Trust by verification

Participants and offers are backed by verifiable credentials checked against recognised trust anchors.

5
Openness and non-discrimination

Any eligible organisation can join on the same published criteria.

6
Privacy by design

Personal and household energy data leaves its holder only in aggregated or derived form, unless the data subject has consented.

7
Sustainability

Rules support the energy transition and the long-term viability of the data space.

Free while we pilot. Participation costs nothing during the pilot phase. Orders settle on a test network with test tokens, so no real payments take place and prices are indicative. Fees come later, only once participants have voted a fee schedule and been told 60 days ahead. Funding and pricing →
